Windows Server 2003 multiple NIC's
When you have multiple NIC's in a Window Server 2003 machine, it can happen that the machine generates error messages in the eventlog. Among others the error is "Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy object". Another symptom is the "Access Denied" error when editting group policies. This is a serious problem as group policies aren't being applied to the machine.
This problem occurs when for instance you use the machine as a router with one interface to the internet and one interface to the internal lan. Mostly file and printer sharing is disable on the interface connecting the external network. Examples are Remote Access machines and proxy servers. The problem arises when the card connecting the external network is top most in the bindings order.
The solution is to change the bindings order and putting the card connecting the internal network top most. You can do this by navigating to your network places properties and choosing the Advanced menu and Advanced Settings.
